          HERO HIGHLIGHT


The Talladega County GOP supports & prays for our men & women in uniform in whatever capacity they may serve. Whether they are our First Responders here at home (police, fire, EMT, etc) or members of our Armed Forces stationed in almost every region of the world, we salute their bravery, courage, dignity & strength and ask that God's Hand of Protection be on them as they go about their duties making us all a little safer here at home. They are our Heroes!

We will be periodically highlighting someone from either of these two groups to specifically pray for by name, just as we pray for them all collectively.

Our first Hero Highlight was Officer Greg Surles, a Pell City police officer who was seriously injured recently when a large 18-wheeler truck hit him while he was working. He held on in an induced coma at UAB in Birmingham while having numerous surgeries to repair the tremendous damage done to him during the accident, but sadly lost his battle. Please keep his wife, Robin and their young children in your prayers. Thank you!

We were so fortunate to have had an unprecedented two members of our Talladega County Republican Executive Commitee to be elected as Delegates to the Republican National Convention that was held in St. Paul, MN from September 1st - 4th, 2008. They were Julie Laughridge, our immediate past county chairman, and Allene Laughridge, both members of our county committee for sixteen years. As I'm sure you can imagine, this was quite an expensive trip for both of them; so we are asking everyone to help as much as you can since we sent these two to St. Paul to represent OUR conservative values at the RNC.
